Homegrown Harvest Festival
August 19th
What: Join Nature & Nurture Farm in community on August 19th as we celebrate our 10th year at the farm and give thanks for another bountiful growing season! There will be a tomato tasting, potluck, guided farm tours, live music, kids activities, a seed giveaway, a bonfire, and more! Follow us on social media (FB/IG) as more details become available.
When: Event starts at 5 PM and bonfire runs until midnight.

Schedule:
5-6pm - Tomato Tasting
5-7pm - Kids Activities
6pm - Potluck
5:30-6pm - Guided Farm Tour
6-8pm - Live Music by Saints of Soul
10pm - Bonfire
What to bring: Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
Cost: $30 suggested donation, $10 suggested donation for students, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. One free seed packet per person, while supplies last!
Dogs: No dogs without advanced permission.
Camping: You are welcome to camp on our farm property Friday through Sunday. Email mike@natureandnurture.org to arrange camping.

Do you have experience with or are interested in learning about organic seed production and breeding methods?
RSVP today to join OSA and University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Seed to Kitchen Collaborative for the Midwest Regional Seed and Plant Breeding Field Day on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 11 AM – 2 PM EST.
You'll learn about organic seed production and plant breeding methods along with presenters from OSA and the Seed to Kitchen Collaborative. Come on out and explore the farm fields and seed cleaning equipment, discuss current plant breeding projects, share tips on producing and selling high-quality seeds, and taste and evaluate soon-to-be-released crop varieties. If you are an aspiring seed saver or plant breeder, or if you are ready to take the next step in growing from hobby to enterprise scale, bring your questions and be ready to learn together with the group! Refreshments will be provided.
Farm Bill Town Hall With Senator Stabenow's Team
August 18th
You’re invited to join fellow farmers and Organic Seed Alliance for a town hall conversation with staff from Senator Debbie Stabenow’s office on Friday, August 18th from 4 – 6 PM EST. at Nature and Nurture Seeds Farm. The Senator’s staff is looking forward to hearing from Michigan-based farmers about the upcoming 2023 Farm Bill and how it can support our local agricultural systems.
The gathering will include a short overview about the Farm Bill and an intimate town hall style conversation about how the 2023 Farm Bill can strengthen the local organic and sustainable farming systems in Michigan and beyond. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
