Meet Everleaf Emerald Towers Basil — the heirloom Italian basil that refuses to bolt, giving you sweet, non-bitter leaves all season long. This basil has some resistance to downy mildew and fusarium diseases helping plants stay healthy all season.

These tall, tidy 24–36" basil “towers” grow upright with tight branching and short internodes, making them perfect for small gardens, containers, close spacing, and hydroponics. Robust, aromatic, and pesto-ready, this is the basil that actually keeps its promises.

Italian basil produces broad, aromatic, non-bitter leaves with rich, traditional Genovese flavor — ideal for pesto, sauces, salads, and fresh dishes. Erica loves it in her “Summer Salad” with tomatoes, cucumbers, olive oil, and ume plum vinegar. Preserve the flavor into winter by packing the leaves in salt to make incredible “Basil Salt” (see Recipes).

Reported to have intermediate resistance to downy mildew and fusarium though DM performance is typically moderate under high disease pressure.

45–60 days to maturity.

Basil is a full sun, heat loving crop. It will become bitter if it is allowed to bolt (flower) or if exposed to temps below 50°. Start seeds indoors April 10th - May 1st at a temp of 75° (use heating mat). Days to germination: 5-14. Do not let plants become potbound (too big for their pots) because this will stunt plants. Transplant outside, 10” apart, after nighttime temps are above 50°. Alternatively, sow seeds directly outside early June. Prune young plants to encourage side branching. For an extended harvest, consider starting a 2nd planting May 15th.
