Sow seeds directly (outside) around 5/1 in a full sun location. Sow seeds in rows 2-9” apart. Seeds should be planted very shallow (1/8” deep.) Alternatively, scatter seeds and cover lightly with soil by dragging the back of a rake. Keep seeds moist until germination. Days to germination: 10-21 at 60°F. Seeds sown in early spring will bloom mid June. For continuous flower production, sow new seeds every 2-3 weeks spring through mid July. Water plants regularly. Plants will re-seed unless you remove the seed pods.
All parts of this plant are toxic and should not be consumed. Flowers, foliage, and seed pods make excellent fresh or dried decorations. Cut flowers stay fresh longer if leaves are removed from lower part of stem. For dried pods, harvest when stripes are visible and hang upside down in airy spot.
Love-in-a-Mist will self-seed abundantly if seed pods are not removed. For seed saving, harvest pods once they have dried.
