Mild & crisp white salad turnip that's excellent raw. Smooth texture makes it also great cooked into stews, stir frys and more. Enjoy them salt fermented for added deliciousness! Kanamachi is an early maturing heirloom Japanese turnip, similar to Toyko Market and Hakurei.

Grow turnips spring through fall but where they really shine is in the fall because they can store in the fridge or root cellar for many months. The roots are quick, uniform and vigorous, and the greens are edible.

40 days to maturity.

Turnips are somewhat cold hardy so can be grown spring through fall. Direct sow seeds (outside) 4/15 - 8/15. Sow seeds 1/4– 1/2" deep, 1.5" apart in rows 12–18" apart. We recommend covering seeds & plants with light row cover fabric to protect from flea beetles and root maggots - cover edges of fabric with soil to keep the bugs out. If you want turnips all summer, succession plant them every month.
